Hooklifts

The key word is “simple”. First, the operator backs the truck toward the container. With the in-cab controls, the operator switches on the power take-off, lowers the hydraulic arm and engages the container with the hook. He then activates the two main cylinders that pull the container onto the chassis and locks it into position. The operator then turns off the power take-off and drives away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Presale: What You Should Know

OEH recommends starting the planning process 4 to 8 months before your desired installation date. While our installation timelines are reliable and well-managed, early planning helps secure availability, optimize costs, and ensure a smoother project execution.

Global supply chain disruptions and economic conditions can impact material availability across the industry. To minimize delays, OEH maintains stock equipment, either pre-mounted on trucks or ready for installation, whenever possible. This proactive approach helps reduce downtime and keep projects on schedule.

OEH offers multiple financing solutions:

  • Loans
  • Leasing (most popular)
  • Exclusive Manitou Rent-to-Own Program

Leasing allows you to preserve borrowing capacity, as the equipment does not appear as debt on your balance sheet.

Rent-to-Own (Manitou):

  • Lock in pricing with a purchase agreement.
  • Rent the unit.
  • Apply up to 3 months of rental payments toward purchase once you’re ready.

Yes. OEH offers rentals including:

  • Man baskets
  • Straight mast forklifts
  • Rotating telehandlers
  • Heavy-capacity forklifts (20,000 lbs+)

OEH does not currently offer cranes for rental.

OEH removes the guesswork. Our in-house engineering team considers:

  • Axle load distribution
  • GVWR compliance
  • Provincial regulations
  • Centre of gravity and stability
  • Hydraulic reach requirements

The result: a legal, optimized, and performance-driven solution—no guesswork, no wasted investment.

Parts, Service & Warranty: How We Support You

OEH represents globally recognized brands—Palfinger, Rotobec, and Manitou—and prioritizes parts availability.

  • Palfinger: Parts hubs in Niagara Falls and a fully automated warehouse in Chicago.
  • Rotobec: Canadian manufacturer based in Québec with locally produced parts for faster delivery.
  • Manitou: Major distribution hub in Belvidere, Illinois, close to OEH. Weekly stock orders and emergency air freight options are available when needed.

We strongly recommend following manufacturer guidelines. At a minimum:

  • One annual inspection
  • One service every 500 operating hours

Service intervals may vary by equipment type. OEH also offers customized maintenance plans to help reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

OEH’s certified technicians are fully equipped to diagnose, service, and repair equipment on-site or in our 16-bay service facility.

Whenever possible, we troubleshoot issues by phone to minimize unnecessary downtime. If local service is required outside our region, we assist with remote diagnostics or help coordinate trusted local support.

OEH offers standard manufacturer warranties and extended warranty options (manufacturer and third-party).

Warranty coverage includes:

  • Palfinger Cranes
  • Palfinger Hooklifts
  • Palfinger Rear-Mount Forklifts
  • Rotobec Loaders
  • Manitou Equipment (2 years / 2,000 hours + 6-year structural coverage)
